SOFT POWER
Undoubtedly jazz-tinged but also (more importantly) – vulnerable, genderless, dorky & kitsch, unshowy and meditative - Soft Power is a musical project by composer Matthew Roche that can easily recall the wistful longing of pop music as it can easily traverse jazz chord changes. Inspired by a quarter-life crisis following a meditation retreat in 2014, Roche brings together a three piece band featuring Oscar Neyland (Double Bass) and Chris Cameron (Drums) to present new works and compositions.
ALBUMS
Soft Power's second album Easy Listening has just been released on Newmarket Music as of April 2018. The album was recorded at Rolling Stock Studio in Collingwood by Myles Mumford, with all compositions by Matthew Roche, with album artwork by Loretta Wilde. Soft Power's debut album A Breath Is Like A Swinging Door featuring Peter Bouman & Liam O'Leary was released in February 2017.
